Under technical direction, the Claims Adjuster manages claims for both Canadian and US exposures. You will:

  • Review coverages, determine liability and compensation, secure information, negotiate and settle claims while ensuring cost efficiencies and timely issuance of payments.
  • Coordinate and adjust investigations of casualty line claims (bodily injury and product liability) and auto bodily injury third party claims of a moderate to intermediate complexity through communication with policy holders and external vendors.
  • Assign independent adjusters and lawyers in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Contribute to profitability by effective implementation of claim handling best practices to direct loss cost and claim expense.
  • Ensure proper reporting is completed in a timely manner and sent to the appropriate Head Office department


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Professional designations preferred.
  • Three to five years claims experience.
  • Knowledge of insurance and claims principles, practices and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of industry trends, issues, Canadian and US laws and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Work well under pressure and handle a high volume of work.
  • Comfortable working in a paperless and technologically based environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
